Update regarding COVID-19

                                        3/23/2020 COVID-19 update

We are all aware of the global COVID-19 Pandemic. As the virus continues to spread across our nation, local authorities are taking unprecedented measures to halt its spread. On March 22nd, Judge Clay Jenkins issued an amended order for people in Dallas County to “Stay Home Stay Safe.” This order asks everyone (except people with certain essential jobs) to stay home and shelter in place. The goal is to limit or eliminate as much person-to-person contact as possible. Additionally, Governor Abbott has issued an executive order restricting health care professionals and facilities to “postpone all surgeries and procedures that are not immediately medically necessary…” until April 21, 2020.

The American Association of Orthodontics had already recommended, earlier this month, that non-emergency orthodontic treatment be deferred.  Dr. Carney and I are in full agreement with this AAO recommendation, and have closed our offices until the storm has passed. We care about our patients and our employees and want us all to stay healthy in these trying times.

We will reopen our offices after restrictions are lifted (probably on a reduced number of patients per day) and try to get back to a more normal life.

Our nation has weathered many trying times. What makes our nation great is that we have always come together – despite our many differences - and have prevailed. We will prevail with this, our most recent challenge. Please follow the recommendations of the CDC, wash your hands frequently and follow the guidelines set by local health authorities, and be generous with your prayers.
